Pari Mahal is a historical monument located in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. The monument was built by Prince Dara Shikoh, the eldest son of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and his queen Mumtaz Mahal. Pari Mahal is situated on the Zabarwan mountain range and overlooks the Dal Lake.
The monument was built as a pleasure resort and a place of retreat for the prince. It was also used as an observatory to study the stars. The name Pari Mahal means ‘fairy palace’ in Persian.
The Mahal has five terraces, each with a different garden. The first terrace has a water fountain in the center. The second terrace has a rose garden. The third terrace has a cypress garden. The fourth terrace has a garden with different types of fruits and flowers. The fifth terrace has a garden with different types of trees. There is also a small mosque on the fifth terrace.
The Pari Mahal was abandoned after the death of Prince Dara Shikoh. It was later used as a garrison by the Afghan ruler, Ahmed Shah Durrani. The monument was then used as a residence by the British rulers.
The Pari Mahal is currently being restored by the Archaeological Survey of India.
2.The architecture of Pari Mahal in Srinagar

3.The gardens of Pari Mahal
